Paul Feig’s Making a Movie About Supermodels Stranded in a Chilean Snowstorm

Ghostbusters Director Paul Feig has his next project lined up: a comedy called Supermodel Snowpocalypse based on a true story of a group of models and fashion-types stuck in an epic blizzard in Chile, where they were forced to make the most of a trying situation (read: have a crazy bender while stranded in a ski lodge). The movie is based on an Elle story of the same name. Here’s the synopsis:

The article was sub-headlined with This Drug-Fueled, Multimillion-Dollar Supermodel Snowpocalypse Has Been Fashion’s Best-Kept Secret Since ‘77. It followed two sisters (the younger of which was 18 and freshly-arrived in New York City from the Midwest), the older’s photographer boyfriend, ad execs and a group of models (including Jerry Hall and Maria Hanson) who traveled to Chile for a lavish fur-themed photoshoot. A snow storm hit soon after the group arrived at a mountain ski resort but even though it was massive, the men and women put on a brave face, turning the place into their own Studio 54 with the other Brazilian and Argentinian patrons. After being stranded for a week with no working phones (and the only way to exit the hotel was through second floor windows), the American crew hatched a plan to escape back to civilization.
Feig is producing, not directing – he’s currently in production on his next directing gig, a Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn’s mother/daughter comedy, which is shooting in Hawaii. Choosing Hawaii over a Snowpocalypse? Can’t blame him.
