St. Vincent’s weird requiem-style take on the Golden Girls song might just be the perfect tune to kick off your eventual entombment. You want something somber and respectful that at the same time gives a winky nod to your friends and loved ones about how much fun you were when you were alive. The “Digital Witness” singer posted the dark, ambient pseudo-cover with no explanation as to why she might have created it, other than noting “I remade The Golden Girls theme song into a dirge.” However, if you check the card attached to the song, it does say, “Thank you for being a friend,” so draw your own conclusions.
