Run and tell that to your friends. Andrea Martin has joined the ever-expanding cast of NBC’s Hairspray Live! as Prudy Pingleton, the devoutly religious, progressive-society hating, bigoted mother of Penny Pingleton. (A role which will be played with great panache by Ariana Grande.) The televised live adaptation — which also stars the likes of Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Hudson, Rosie O’Donnell, and Martin Short — will air on NBC on December 7. Start mentally preparing for all of the insults she’ll be directing at Tracy Turnblad, too.
