Here’s a First Look at Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt’s Sci-Fi Love Story Passengers

She may not be collaborating with director David O. Russell again in the foreseeable future, but Christmas is still the most Jennifer Lawrence time of year, and her highly anticipated sci-fi love story Passengers has finally released first-look images to Entertainment Weekly. The movie stars Lawrence as Aurora and Chris Pratt as Jim Preston; both are passengers on board a posh spacecraft headed for a colony called Homestead II that’s a brief 120 years away from the ship’s point of origin. Aurora and Jim accidentally wake up from their suspended animation 90 years too early and then get up to all the things normal people would when they’re alone on a fancy-ass spaceship for the next century, but the wrinkle comes in when they realize the ship is malfunctioning, putting the other 5,000 passengers on board in mortal danger. Director Morten Tyldum, who received an Oscar nomination for his work on The Imitation Game, told EW he is “very, very happy with the movie,” and went so far as to say, “Every generation has its love story. I feel like this is it.”
