These are uncertain times for America and for the world, but one thing we can be certain of is Hugh Grant keeping it real. While promoting his new movie, Florence Foster Jenkins — the story of a kindly old rich lady with a terrible voice who dreams of being an opera singer — Grant naturally ended up talking sex and monogamy on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show. For his own romantic relationships, the Brit with the famously wandering eye said his secret to happiness is open relationships. “I always admire the French and the Italians who are very devoted to their marriages,” Grant told Stern. “They take them extremely seriously, but it is understood that there might be other visitors at 5 o’clock in the afternoon you just never boast about.” He goes on to call marriages “unromantic” because you’re “closing yourself off,” and generally finds the whole institution to be rather Old Testament. “People make so many mistakes. Do I think human beings are meant to be in 40-year-long monogamous, faithful, relationships? No, no, no. Whoever said they were? Only the Bible or something.” So if you ever end up dating Hugh Grant — which you might — you can’t say you didn’t know.
