Issa Rae Signs a Two-Year Development Deal with HBO

HBO has turned to the star of one of its upcoming comedies to develop new shows. According to Deadline, the network has closed a two-year deal with Issa Rae, whose show Insecure debuts in October. Under the deal, Rae will “develop programming focused on diverse voices” for the network, including shows on HBO GO and HBO NOW. Rae already has a lot of experience helping the work of underrepresented voices get produced through her company Color Creative, which she founded back in 2014.
