Moana Teaser Released in Olympics TV Spot, Disney Will Be Taking Home the Gold

While some were watching the 2016 Olympic Games, others were distracted by lava monsters and Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson as a tattooed, muscular demigod. According to EW, Disney released a new TV spot for Moana on Sunday night, and it will also air during NBC’s Olympics coverage. In the teaser, Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) asks Maui (Dwayne Johnson) to save the world. At first, he doesn’t want to go on a mission with “some kid” (he still thinks he is in Fast 8), but then remembers that this is a Disney movie and decides to help her so that he can be a hero. Plus, he gets to flex those animated muscles. They set off on a journey, even though Maui warns her that it will take them “through a whole ocean of bad,” but Moana insists that the ocean chose her for a reason.

The film features songs and music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, and opens on November 23.
