To everybody out there who was singularly convinced that Natalie Portman would never do television, boy do we have some emotionally resonant news for you: She’s starring in and executive-producing We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, an HBO miniseries. The project comes from Marta Kauffman (Friends) and is based on Karen Joy Fowler’s acclaimed novel. It’ll center around Portman as a university student “whose complex and unusual upbringing is marred by the unexpected disappearance of a ‘twin sister’ at the age of 5.” In addition to Portman’s project, Kauffman has also sold Emmis, an adaptation of the Israeli hit Shtisel, to Amazon. We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves: soon-to-be-acclaimed HBO miniseries, or that which lies beyond the Wonder Line?
