Unlike you, the fictional residents of Shondaland won’t have to suffer through months and months of Twitter gaffes, email hacks, low-grade panic, and simmering hostility. According to Entertainment Weekly, season six of Scandal, which premieres on ABC mid-season, will skip right to the good stuff. “We are basically going to start our season on election night,” Shonda Rimes told EW. “Yes, it is going to play into our season, but we’re not going to spend our time playing an election.” No word on who will end up winning, Republican Mellie Grant or Democrat Francisco Vargas, but rest assured that whoever it is, the nation’s future will likely still end up in Olivia Pope’s beautifully manicured, constantly clenched-in-silent-rage hands.
