Suicide Squad member Slipknot may be able to climb any wall with expert confidence, but Suicide Squad the movie is finding its box-office ascent precarious. Although it’s set to have a record-breaking opening weekend, a huge chunk of that change came from preorders, and the abysmal critical reception may well hurt the flick in the coming weeks, much like what happened with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That makes this report from Variety all the more troubling for Warner Bros.: Apparently, Suicide Squad still doesn’t have a release date in China, and Variety’s sources suggest this might mean it’s too dark to get a Chinese release at all. Without that sweet, sweet yuan infusion, things might look grim and gritty for this grim and gritty film.
Not safe for China?
