How Cruel of Kanye to Sign Tyga to G.O.O.D. Music

Nothing says nepotism like giving your sister-in-law’s charity case, er, boyfriend a job and, oh look, Tyga is now signed to Kanye West’s label. At a pop-up show for the collective in New York City on Wednesday night, Kanye announced the news himself (despite Pusha T being the president now), because what are sorta-kinda big brothers for? Kanye had previously executive-produced Tyga’s last flop, and, never forget, once congratulated Tyga on “getting in early” with Kanye’s then-underage sister-in-law, Kylie Jenner. “I knew Tyga was smart, you know,” Kanye said at the time. Well, if we didn’t know then, we sure know now. Tyga, of course, was previously signed to Young Money, but — like his former boss Lil Wayne — spent the last few years sparring with Birdman and released last year’s Gold Album independently. (Ironically, Pusha T has also extended an offer to sign Wayne should he ever be freed from Cash Money.)

At the same show, Pusha T also announced that Atlanta trio Migos have signed a management deal with G.O.O.D. Music. Meanwhile, Travis Scott says the label’s next compilation, Cruel Winter — now likely featuring way more Tyga than anyone asked for — is due early next year.
