If you were thinking to yourself that nothing is more punk rock than buying a $700 leather jacket boasting some words that show real ‘tude, then British retailer Topshop has got you covered. The jacket in question is covered in spikes (how biker chic!) and has several phrases like “Rules breed rebels” and “Still hating” (how badass!) and bears the names of two bona fide punk bands, the Vandals and Against Me! (maybe you’ve heard of them!). The only problem? Against Me! front woman Laura Jane Grace doesn’t find this look as cool as the store does. “Hey Topshop,” Grace wrote in a tweet, “you’re selling a $700 leather jacket with my band’s name on it, and you have no permission. Not Cool.” When a fan asked about the permission factor, Grace explained, “‘Against Me!’ is a trademark that I in fact legally own.” According to Spin, Topshop has since taken the jacket off of its online store, which might mean you’ll have to find another method of proving that you’re a teenage anarchist, after all. See a picture of the jacket and Grace’s tweet below.
