MTV to Bring the ‘M’ Back to ‘TV’ With New Weekly Live-Music Series, Wonderland

Remember the time when MTV used to completely dominate music-centric television programming, so much so that Sting once crooned about how much he wanted it? The network hasn’t prioritized its musical roots for quite awhile now, but it looks like that’s about to change — MTV has announced that on September 15, a new weekly live-music series is set to debut for the first time in almost 20 years. Wonderland’s ten-episode first season will be hosted by hip-hop and pop artist Lizzo (Melissa Jefferson), “culture vulture” Steak (Rachael Finley), and stand-up comedian Myke Wright, and will specifically focus on airing live performances from a wide range of musicians. (For example, Tinashe, Ty Dolla $ign, and Broods will perform on the series premiere.) And, in a millennial twist, all episodes can be watched live on Facebook Live and MTV.com. Money for nothing, content for free!
