Watch Björk Discuss Her Idea of Utopia While Being Livestreamed As a Giant Avatar

This morning, Björk opened her Björk digital exhibition in London in the Björk-est way possible: as a live avatar. From Iceland, she appeared at the London press conference, and using motion-capture technology, the avatar mirrored her movements, according to Pitchfork. The exhibit also features several VR videos for songs from her 2015 album, Vulnicura. In a statement on Facebook, Björk explained how “technology is enabling women to work outside the already formed hierarchical systems.” When asked about her idea of utopia, Björk’s avatar said, “I think the goths and the pessimists and the dark ones, they have a determined idea of what the world is. And they have a point. It does suck occasionally. But … I think the optimists are the utopians.” Find photos and videos from the exhibit, below:
