Drunk History Pays Tribute to the Stonewall Riots

The Stonewall Riots of 1969 marked the beginning of the LGBT rights movement in America, and trans members of the queer community in New York City’s Greenwich Village played a vital role in the uprising. Drunk History will now do its part to honor two of the revolutionaries on hand at the Stonewall Inn, Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, and they’ve cast two trans actresses to play the roles. After tipping back a few, Crissle West narrates the story with increasing passion as our heroines, Johnson (played by Alexandra Grey) and Rivera (Trace Lysette), rally their queer brothers and sisters to push back against law enforcement for infringing on their civil rights. As West tells it, two officers rolled into the Stonewall Inn and declared, “Hey bitch! We here! This shit is under motherfucking arrest!” Which prompted Johnson to tear off her wig and shout, “Today is not the motherfucking day!” And the rest, as they say, is drunk history.
