It would appear that James Franco’s singular journey through performative art, and noted infatuation with singer Lana Del Rey, might have taken a strange and violent turn back in 2014. TMZ reports that a photographer named David Tonnessen, who was snapping pictures at Del Rey’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery concert at the time, is suing the actor for allegedly head-butting his stomach. Tonnessen claims in the court documents that Franco was “smiling, rather demonically” before he charged unexpectedly at the photographer and knocked him to the ground. Tonnessen reports that he was hospitalized and received permanent injuries from the incident. While Franco has not yet commented, perhaps he and an imaginary version of Lana will break down Franco’s journey into the other man’s stomach in Franco’s unreleased book about the singer, Flip-Side: Real and Imaginary Conversations With Lana Del Rey.
