but there will still be a twist

Fox Buys M. Night Shyamalan’s Eleven Little Indians Pilot, and the Twist Is, It Was a Comedy the Whole Time

Variety reports that M. Night Shyamalan and Family Guy writer-producer Alex Carter are developing an animated pilot called Eleven Little Indians with Fox. Despite the horror director’s genre of choice, Indians is not, as you might have expected, an updated TV version of an Agatha Christie novel with, say, a werewolf twist. Instead, the animated comedy tracks the trials and tribulations of an extended Indian-American family. The show, Shyamalan’s first comedy project, will follow “three branches of a large Indian family — one has achieved the American dream; another has just arrived in the U.S. wide-eyed; and the third has gone off the rails.” While there is a slim chance somebody’s uncle will accidentally get bitten by a mummy and terrorize the city, the show will more likely grapple with learning to love and support your relatives no matter your differences, which honestly seems more daunting.
