Save for an unusually cordial interview with Donald Trump, the election season has been fruitful for Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, bringing some of that fresh political acumen that viewers loved about The Colbert Report to a wider audience. And now, Colbert is doubling down on the election coverage, this time on another network: He’ll host a live one-hour election special November 8 at 11 p.m. entitled Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Shit? on Showtime. The special will feature remote segments, special guests, and “possibly a complete emotional breakdown.” Colbert is producing the special with his Late Show showrunner Chris Licht and his old boss, Jon Stewart, and he’ll finally be free from the shackles of CBS censors. “It’ll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime,” Colbert said in the press release. It’s all we’ve ever wanted.
