CBS’s comedy about a young Sheldon Cooper isn’t the only big TV spin-off in the works this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has spin-off plans of its own for The Goldbergs focused on gym teacher/coach Rick Mellor played by Bryan Callen, who is attached to star. The show will be set in the ‘90s and follow “two high school teachers who become unlikely father figures to the school secretary’s three misfit kids.” Goldbergs creator Adam Goldberg is attached to produce the project, which ABC has given a script commitment.
