Lana Banana is back! As American Horror Story: Roanoke prepares for its finale, the anthology series is becoming more and more entwined. Lady Gaga’s character has been revealed to be the original Supreme tying back to season three*, which led Murphy to tease a future installment that would “return to Coven,” and now we know that Lana Winters (played by Sarah Paulson, in her breakout role in the AHS universe) will reemerge, putting Roanoke directly into the Asylum timeline. After being peppered throughout the first season as a spirit medium named Billie Dean, who pretty much just sat at Jessica Lange’s kitchen table and smoked cigarettes, Paulson co-anchored season two alongside Lange as the relentless investigative journalist who got locked up inside Briarcliff Mental Institution while trying to solve the mystery of the killer Bloody Face. And now we see Winters again for the first time since she shot her own (murderous) son in the head in the season finale of Asylum, and once again, she’s got the inside scoop on the big story. Same old Lana.
*Update: This post originally referred to American Horror Story: Coven as season two. It has been corrected throughout.
