Seth Meyers Takes ‘A Closer Look’ at Trump’s Softening on His Campaign Promises

Here’s a clip from last night’s Late Night, where Seth Meyers takes “A Closer Look” at Donald Trump’s personnel hires from established political insider Reince Priebus to Breitbart’s Steve Bannon to even Trump’s own children as advisors. Now that there are reports of infighting behind the scenes as Trump assembles his team, Meyers notes that he’s already softening on some of his biggest promises from his presidential campaign like his vow to make Mexico pay for the border wall – a promise even Newt Gingrich admitted was more of a “campaign device” instead of a real possibility.

“A campaign device – or in layman’s terms, a fucking lie,” Meyers says. “So a wall that Mexico was gonna pay for is now a fence that we’re gonna pay for. Even worse, it turns out that hat had an asterisk on it: ‘Great Is In No Way A Legally Binding Term. Customer Shall Assume Responsibility For All Consequences and Liabilities That May Result From Making America Great Again. Also For Every One Person Who Perceives Something As Great, There Will Be Ten To Fifteen People Who Perceive It As Bad Or Terrible. Offer Void In America.’”
