Though signs of the apocalypse might have seemed frighteningly plausible in 2016, at least we’ll be able to escape to the heart-warming, hilarious joys of the cult-favorite postapocalyptic cartoon Adventure Time in 2017. Before the series dives into it’s eighth and penultimate season, Cartoon Network is releasing an eight-part mini-series, Adventure Time: Islands, in January. This time around, our main heroes Jake and Finn are traveling with one of the few humans left, Susan Strong, and friendly living video-game console BMO to islands far away from the Land of Ooo. During this journey, it’s been hinted that the show might reveal the mystery around the mass human extinction that happened in the centuries before the series takes place. The show returns to Cartoon Network on January 30, but if that’s too long to wait, all of the episodes will be available on DVD or for purchase on iTunes, Amazon Video, and Google Play on January 24.
