Hairspray Live! is riding a dumpster truck into town in just a little over a week, so NBC has now given us the longest look at its latest live production yet. In the sneak peek, cast members including Jennifer Hudson, Harvey Fierstein, Martin Short, and Kristin Chenoweth discuss the lasting resonance of the musical, which is nice, but not what you’re tuning in for. No, that’d be the dancing, and boy do they! They shake, they shimmy, heck, they do everything short of pulling a muscle, and all while managing those big ‘dos like a lady-in-training balancing a book. The full verdict on Hairspray Live! comes December 9, but on the outside, it looks good.
