‘The Onion’ Signs a Three-Movie Development Deal with Lionsgate

The Onion is headed to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Onion has signed a deal with Lionsgate to develop three films with production company Serious Business (@midnight, Problematic). No details on the films have been revealed, but the deal with Lionsgate runs through 2018. Serious Business’s Jason Nadler said this on the deal: “The Onion has always been one of our favorite comedic institutions, and we’re excited to help them do to the film industry what they’ve already done to publishing. In a good way.”
