The New Handmaid’s Tale Trailer Reminds You That Better Never Means Better for Everyone

It’s like they say: One woman’s gender dystopia is another man’s heaven on earth. Even more so than the first spot for Hulu’s upcoming adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, which you can watch below, the latest trailer explores the strange, new, American Horror Story: Asylum–esque nightmare that America has become when a coup turns it into the dystopian Republic of Gilead. Meanwhile, the Commander (Joseph Fiennes), offers Elisabeth Moss’s Offred an alternative take on her new life as a forced reproductive concubine living under an authoritarian theocracy: “Better never means better for everyone.” Something for Offred to keep in mind as she readies herself to rebel. With a cast including Alexis Bledel, Samira Wiley, and Yvonne Strahovski, the series will begin streaming on April 26 on Hulu.
