Coolio Says He Would Have Been the Villian in the Next Joel Schumacher Batman Movie, So Let’s Petition to Get It Made

When’s the last time you saw Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin? Did you remember Coolio had a cameo as the “Banker?” No? Then it’s time to watch it again! Just kidding, we wouldn’t do that to you. But this news, hot off the presses, will make you daydream about another Joel Schumacher Batman installment: Coolio would have played the Scarecrow. In an interview with the Burleson Star, Coolio said the only reason he took the role as the Banker was because Schumacher promised him the villain’s role in the next film, which never got off the ground:

Batman & Robin was the only Batman that didn’t make money. I’m still sore about that a little bit, ’cause the only reason I did that part is because they promised me the villain part in the following Batman, which they didn’t do, because Joel Schumacher — they fired him. […] He was supposed to do the two next ones. He and I didn’t get along that good anyway — I mean he made a terrible Batman movie. But the next villain was supposed to be the Scarecrow. They didn’t do it though. Maybe one day. I’m sure they won’t come calling, though.

Oh, but there’s more! In 2011, Schumacher said he’d already spoken to Nicolas Cage about playing the Scarecrow. Did he lie to Coolio? Is Coolio lying to us, now? And while we’re here, can we just take a pause and rewatch that “Gangsta’s Paradise” video with Michelle Pfeiffer? That was a good video.
