How brainwashed are members of the Church of Scientology? Well, according to Leah Remini, Scientologists believed Jack Reacher was a hit. The former Scientologist went on Real Time With Bill Maher on Friday to discuss her ongoing battle to reveal the religion’s exploitative, and at times abusive, practices through sharing her own experiences and interviewing other former members on her docuseries Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. When Maher asked if Tom Cruise, the most famous member, could “end” Scientology, Remini agreed wholeheartedly and explained how powerful he is within Scientology. Remini says that Scientologists believe Cruise “single-handedly is clearing the planet.” And those recent less–than–Mission Impossible–worthy box-office returns?
