One way to get people to stop talking about that one time you flubbed one of the year’s biggest live televised events is simply to talk over them. After taking a quick breather from defending her honor against those who think she can’t sing live after the New Year’s Eve lip-syncing accusations, Mariah Carey’s back on the warpath, this time to keep us peons in our place dare we question how her performance went so awry. Mariah’s world, she explains, operates in a way we normals can’t comprehend. “It’s just something where if I can’t explain it to the entire world, then they’re not going to understand it, because it’s not what they do. Just like I wouldn’t understand somebody who had a desk job and how to do that. I couldn’t. I literally am incapable of being in the real world and surviving,” she now tells Rolling Stone. At least we know Mariah’s more than capable of a good quote. Here’s another in which her short fuse on the subject of NYE snaps:
“This was out of my control, and had everything not been such a total chaotic mess, then I would have been able to make something happen. Even the dancers should have stopped dancing and helped me off the fucking stage. I’m sorry. It was a mess, and I blame everybody, and I blame myself for not leaving after rehearsal.”
Yes, dahling, that “everybody” includes you.
