This is basically a Sundance romance: Melanie Lynskey and Jason Ritter, two indie darlings, are engaged. “Now he’s my fiancé,” Lynskey said on the show Hollywood Today Live this week. “I’m announcing it.” The pair have starred in three movies together: The Big Ask (2013), We’ll Never Have Paris (2014), and last year’s The Intervention, where they played a couple that split after a weekend away with friends. They’ve both been around the independent scene for some time, with Lynskey earning high marks for the movie the couple was most recently supporting at Sundance, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore. After dating for four years, Lynskey said Ritter asked her to marry him casually on a couch. Sounds about right.
