A season of American Crime Story that covers the Monica Lewinsky scandal is still a way’s away — Versace and Katrina are up first — but Ryan Murphy is already at work on the casting. Specifically, Murphy has pinned down the role he wants Murphyverse regular Sarah Paulson to play: wiretapper and pot-stirrer Linda Tripp. Appearing on Wednesday’s Watch What Happens Live, Murphy revealed, “I’m very interested and have talked to my good friend … Sarah Paulson about playing Linda Tripp, so we’ll see if she agrees to do that because I always think of Sarah for everything.” Meanwhile, Lewinsky herself will likely be played by an unknown, crushing the hopes of dream-casting directors everywhere. Murphy also shed some light on the focus of the season, explaining that the Clintons don’t have big roles (they’ll be busy in another American story, anyway). Details, details, details. Salient point: Sarah Paulson in another ’90s wig.
