Beauty and the Beast Is the Belle of the Presale-Movie-Ticket Ball

The live-action remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast won’t be a sleeping beauty at the box office. Deadline reports that sales on Fandango are already on track to beat the presales seen by last year’s megahits Captain America: Civil War and Finding Dory. Coming out of the gate stronger than Dory is quite the feat — the animated feature took home $179.1 million from the domestic box office during its debut weekend. Beauty and the Beast, an adaptation of the 1991 Oscar-winning animated movie, won’t hit theaters for another 11 days, which is plenty of time to start eyeing the records held by other box-office heavy hitters. We’re sure that, somewhere out there, a cocky Star Wars or Avatar is taunting, “Be our guest, Emma Watson — be our guest.”
