Get to Know the Cast of Broadway’s Anastasia, Which Is Like the Animated Movie, But With People Instead of Drawings

These Russians are almost the same as you remember, once upon that 1997 20th Century Fox movie. Now, you get to see them in person. In advance of the opening of Broadway’s Anastasia, which starts previews on March 23, Vulture has an exclusive video introduction to the characters in the new musical, including Christy Altomare as Anya, Derek Klena as Dmitry, John Bolton as Vlad, Caroline O’Connor as Lily, Ramin Karimloo as Gleb, and Mary Beth Peil as Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna. Onstage, they’ll be singing some new music courtesy of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, who also contributed the songs for the animated film. Just a reminder: Bartok the talking albino Bat will not appear in the stage version. Plan your mourning accordingly.
