In the next season of The Carmichael Show, Jerrod Carmichael is continuing his efforts to bring bigger conversations to his sitcom, this time by tackling a racial slur. Following last season, which included episodes dedicated to tough-to-talk-about topics like The Cosby Show and depression, the upcoming batch will include an episode that uses the word nigger unedited multiple times. According to Deadline, Carmichael was adamant about using the word itself and not a euphemism. “‘N-word’ is childish … say it!’ Carmichael said. “We know what we’re talking about; we’re not speaking to children.” He also claimed it would be said onscreen “at least six times” over the course of the episode. The episode will air at its normal 9 p.m. ET time slot on NBC that Wednesday, but will carry a parent advisory beforehand.
