Current HBO star Issa Rae and soon-to-be HBO star Bill Hader are hitting the big screen together. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rae and Hader will star together in an upcoming film called Empress of Serenity. Written and directed by Jesse Andrews (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), the film centers on Hader as “a man whose elaborate plan to win back his ex-wife is upended when he is guilted into a month long cruise with his widowed father.” Rae will play Michelle, “a reclusive kindred spirit in the cabin next door who becomes both the aid and the obstacle in Sheldon’s plan.” Rae’s HBO series Insecure is slated to return for season 2 in July; Hader’s new HBO comedy Barry doesn’t yet have a premiere date.
