If Big Little Lies brought you moms with a side of murder, HBO’s latest prestige book adaptation Sharp Objects is serving murder with a side of moms. Patricia Clarkson has joined the cast of the eight-episode adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name, which will star national treasure Amy Adams as a reporter named Camille who returns to her hometown to cover the murder of two preteen girls. Clarkson will play her estranged mother, Adora Crellin, a society queen who’s still haunted by the death of Camille’s sister. We assume that she has spoken to Laura Linney and understands that, in playing Amy Adams’s mother, she’s going to need a lot of hairspray.
Good time to be Amy Adams’s mom.
