Prepare for Tax Day with This 2007 Clip from The Second City

Welcome to The Second City Archives, in which we post an exclusive clip each week of some of comedy’s biggest superstars performing early in their careers on the legendary Chicago stage. Second City has generously given us a glimpse into their extensive archive of live performances, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some rare and retro comedy never before seen on the web.

Whether you’ve been following all the Trump news or are just trying to tally up all your expenses for 2016, taxes are on everyone’s mind this month, so this week The Second City sent us a clip that takes place inside everyone’s favorite tax-related establishment, H&R Block. From the 2007 revue Between Barack and a Hard Place, the above scene features Brad Morris as an H&R Block accountant who has an impromptu tax meeting with an unsuspecting audience member. “I’ve gotta just check off these ‘dependent’ things here. I don’t even know what it is,” Morris tells his new client. “I’m just gonna put a 1 and a 0 and kind of alternate.” Check out some other clips from the same revue here and here.
