where's the beef?

Remy Ma, Dressed Up for Nicki Minaj’s ‘Funeral,’ Explains the Reason for Their Beef

For those who don’t keep up with the minutia of rap feuds, Remy Ma throwing down the gauntlet at Nicki Minaj in back-to-back vengeful diss tracks this week might’ve seemed out of left field. But according to Remy, her tactics have been warranted. Appearing on the Wendy Williams Show dressed in black lace “for the services” — those being Nicki’s symbolic funeral — Remy says her beef with Nicki has little to do with the subliminal messages Nicki has taunted her with on songs over the years, as that follows a certain rap code. Instead, Remy’s frustration comes from claims that Minaj has been privately trying to sabotage Remy’s career since Remy’s release from prison in 2014.

She accuses Minaj of “trying to keep me off red carpets,” threatening not to attend awards shows if Remy wins over Minaj, and slandering Remy’s album sales to “make me look less, and her better.” “When you’re trying to stop my bag and stop me from taking care of my children, then I have a problem,” Remy explains of her renewed vitriol toward Minaj. And in dialogue worthy of Feud season three, Remy channels her petty to add, “But my grandmother told me to never speak ill of the dead.”
