SNL’s Weekend Update Is Headed to Prime Time With Four Half-Hour Specials

Great news: no more destroying your sleep schedule to catch Michael Che and Colin Jost behind Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update desk anymore. Unless, of course, you go to sleep at 9:00 p.m. eastern time during the week, in which case you are going to be an absolute wreck this coming August. (Sorry, bakers, pilots, and farmers.) NBC announced earlier today that Che and Jost will host four half-hour prime-time specials beginning Thursday, August 10, establishing a tradition set in motion by Weekend Update specials aired in 2008 and 2009. Other SNL cast members will, of course, make guest appearances. If you go to bed extremely early, you will be a sleep-deprived waking zombie by the time September rolls around — but hey, you’ll also be more up-to-date than the average human mind could possibly conceive.
