Matt Walsh to Star in Romantic Comedy ‘Under the Eiffel Tower’

Matt Walsh just landed a starring movie role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walsh has signed on to star in a romantic comedy opposite French actress Judith Godreche called Under the Eiffel Tower. Here’s the logline for the film, which was written by David Henry and director Archie Borders and will also feature David Wain, Gary Cole, Michaela Watkins, Ryan Eggold, and Ary Abittan on the ensemble cast:

Described as in the vein of Sideways, the film centers on a bourbon salesman closing in on 50 (Walsh) who proposes to and is rejected by his best friend’s 24-year-old daughter under the Eiffel Tower. The soul-crushing event sparks a wine-fueled mid-life crisis jaunt across the French countryside, a surprising friendship with a local soccer player (Eggold) and romantic possibilities with a beautiful and independent French woman (Godreche).

Walsh also starred in his own improvised film A Better You back in 2015 and plays Matty Simmons in David Wain’s upcoming National Lampoon movie A Futile and Stupid Gesture.
