Maya Rudolph Joins the Cast of Melissa McCarthy’s Puppet Comedy ‘The Happytime Murders’

In May it was announced that Melissa McCarthy had signed on to star in a movie called The Happytime Murders, and today another big comedy star has joined the cast. According to Deadline, McCarthy’s Bridesmaids costar Maya Rudolph has joined the cast of the film, which is set “in a world where humans and puppets coexist, with the puppets viewed as second-class citizens. When the puppet castmembers of 1980s children’s TV show The Happytime Gang begin turning up dead, an alcoholic, disgraced LAPD detective turned private-eye puppet takes the case with his former human partner.” The film, which has been in development at The Jim Henson Company for years, will be directed by Brian Henson, and McCarthy will also co-executive produce with Ben Falcone.
