This is the last This Week in Web Videos column. Not forever, but for the year. I’m choosing not to feature a holiday-themed piece. Is that crazy? Yes, and it may not be popular, but Rachel Sennott’s The ATM Mechanic is worth the fallout.
After a year that’s been nothing if not shut-the-lights-off-and-stare deplorable, we need to re-evaluate the constructs we once trusted and redefine the values that we hold dear. It’s not about Christmas, folks. It’s not about Hanukkah, folks. It’s about the glimmer of human ingenuity that shines through our collective uncertainty, that gives respite from a cloaking fear. It’s about art that’s so off the fucking wall it makes us believe in continuing to wake up.
Forget the presents. Cuddle up and give this a watch…and then go get your gifts. Jesus. What are you, a psychopath? People are shopping for you. It’s just a video!
