After three years on the sideline playing Christian Grey’s sister Mia, Rita Ora has finally been trusted to lead the third and final Fifty Shades soundtrack. Carrying the torch passed on by Beyoncé, the Weeknd, Ellie Goulding, and Taylor Swift (with Zayn), she duets with a different ex-One Directioner, Liam Payne, on the track “For You.” Since Fifty Shades Freed is meant to be the franchise’s lovey-dovey, settled-down finale (Christian and Anastasia are boring married people now), the seduction that defined most of the previous films’ theme songs is restrained. This one’s upbeat and hopeful, trading riding crops for roses. The Weeknd and Goulding earned Oscar and Golden Globe noms, respectively, for their contributions, while Swift and Zayn are shortlisted for this year’s Oscars noms. Can Rita Ora earn the same recognition for hers? Who knows!
