Black Panther’s Thursday night numbers are in, and they’re even better than Michael B. Jordan’s bare chest: The Marvel movie grossed $25.2 million in ticket sales from Thursday preview shows in the U.S. and Canada, and set a February record, according to the Los Angeles Times. Black Panther’s Thursday night gross is double what Deadpool made in February 2016 (Mr. Blake Lively’s superhero movie raked in $12.7 million on its first night). Per the LAT, Black Panther also scored the second-highest number for a Marvel film, opening behind Avengers: Age of Ultron’s $27.6 million. Congratulations to Ryan Coogler and the Black Panther cast, and especially Angela Bassett’s cheekbones.
