A TV adaptation of Anna Drezen and Todd Dakotah Briscoe’s book How May We Hate You? is getting a second chance on another network. According to Deadline, 2 Broke Girls star Kat Dennings has signed on to star in an ABC pilot based on the book, which was originally developed as a multi-cam comedy at CBS back in 2016. The ABC version is a single-cam pilot written by Justin Noble (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Idiotsitter) and directed by Will Gluck (Peter Rabbit), which will center on Dennings as Ellie, “one of the guest-services specialists, forced to wear a plastic smile as she deals with hotel clientele who pay more per night than she pays in rent each month. In debt from three botched attempts at different grad schools, Ellie is making ends meet by working beside her best friend Gabe at a high-end hotel.” The untitled pilot joins a round of other comedy pilots recently ordered by ABC including Three Rivers, Single Parents, and Steps.
