Jordan Peele Becomes the First Black Winner of the Best Original Screenplay Oscar

Jordan Peele made history tonight as the first ever black recipient of the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Peele’s script for Get Out beat Lady Bird, The Big Sick, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards, and in his acceptance speech, the writer and director said that he stopped writing his landmark film about 20 times, thinking it couldn’t possibly get made.
