Hulu has given the green light for a straight-to-series, 10 episode order of PEN15, a new comedy series that will be executive produced by The Lonely Island. The series is created by, starring, and co-written by Maya Erskine (Casual, Man Seeking Woman) and Anna Konkle (Maron, Man Seeking Woman), alongside co-writer Sam Zvibleman (Take My Wife), who will also direct multiple episodes. Erskine and Konkle will be “playing versions of themselves as 13-year-old outcasts in the year 2000 and surrounded by actual 13-year-olds, where the best day of your life can turn into your worst with the stroke of a gel pen.”

This is the fourth comedy series produced by The Lonely Island centered around one or more female leads: Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone have previously executive produced the series Party Over Here starring Nicole Byer, Alison Rich, and Jess McKenna, Alone Together starring Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo, and I’m Sorry starring Andrea Savage. PEN15 will begin shooting this summer.
