After earning his second Academy Award on Sunday for his turn in Green Book, Mahershala Ali has returned to his cinematic roots once again. (His roots, of course, being Alita: Battle Angel.) According to Deadline, the actor is set to star in the upcoming sci-fi movie Sovereign. The film will be based on a screenplay by A Quiet Place duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods and produced by Stranger Things and Arrival producers Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine. Thus sadly ends the information we have about Sovereign, the details of which are currently under wraps, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate.
