Mean Jean is on the scene in the latest trailer for Dark Phoenix, directed by Simon Kinberg. The latest X-Men film reportedly catches up with your favorite mutants in 1992, when a solar flare (or is it?!) inadvertently unlocks a cataclysmic entity called the Phoenix inside Jean Grey, played by Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner. Inadvertently harming your friends and loved ones is scary enough, but there’s also the matter of Jessica Chastain’s Lilandra, an alien empress who makes one hell of a pitch for wielding the destructive energy of a chaos goddess. We can all certainly agree it would come in handy from time to time, like when you have to rescue all your co-workers from an impenetrable prison train.
Will Jean be able to conquer her inner force? Will anyone listen to Alexandra Shipp’s Storm before it’s too late? Will someone please tell the conductor why the train is straight-up flying through the air right now? All these answers, and more, when the Phoenix finally rises on June 7.
