Sam Bee’s Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Will Return in April, Snowflakes

Full Frontal’s TV alternative to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has officially become an annual event. TBS confirmed today that Samantha Bee and her team of correspondents will return for the show’s second annual Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which will take place at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., on Friday, April 26. In addition to Bee, the event will also feature some yet-to-be-announced celebrity guests.

“I vowed never to host a NWHCD ever again. But the White House Correspondents’ Association has left me no choice — it is now up to comedy journalists to take care of real journalists. Even if those journalists insist on wearing corduroy,” Bee said on the news. It’s bigger than just the Free Press this time around. This is about the non-sexy parts of the First Amendment too — and if the White House Correspondents’ Association won’t defend them, we will.”

The event will air as a special on TBS at the same time as the official WHCD on Saturday, April 27, at 10 p.m. Considering there will be no comedians performing at this year’s WHCD, that should make choosing between both events much easier.
