The always delightful John Mulaney returns to Saturday Night Live this weekend to host for a second time, and the show just released a video that deserves 2019’s Best SNL Promo Award. In the clip, we learn that despite earning the honor of becoming a two-time SNL host, the comedian has auditioned to become a cast member a whopping 44 times since way back in 1975, trying his best to impress Lorne Michaels and crew with original bits like “John Travolta in Lord of the Rings,” “Barbra Streisand doing Jaws,” and “Guy Who Doesn’t Want to Get a Divorce.” Even more impressive than Mulaney’s persistence, though, is his Paul Rudd–level of immortality. “He never seems to age,” Kenan Thompson says. “I mean, he’s either a fresh 31 or a stale 76.”
